CBDT vide order u/s 119 dated 09/09/2016 has extended the 'due date' for submission of Returns of Income from 30/09/2016 to 17/10/2016 in the case of income tax assessees throughout India who are liable to file their Income tax returns by 30/09/2016. CBDT vide order u/s 119 dated 26/08/2016 has further extended the 'due date' for submission of Returns of Income from 31/08/2016 to 30/09/2016 in the case of income tax assessees in the State of Jammu & Kashmir who are required to file their Income tax returns by the 'said date' u/s 139(1) of the Act read with order of CBDT dated 29/07/2016 issued u/s 119 of the Act in file of even number. The Pr. DGIT (Systems) vide Notification No. 10/2016 dated 31/08/2016 has further extended the due dates for quarterly uploading of Form 15G/15H declarations by payers on e-Filing portal for the periods 01/10/2015 to 31/03/2016 and 01/04/2016 to 30/06/2016 up to 31/10/2016.

226.98 Lakh e-returns were filed in F.Y. 2016-17 as compared to 70.97 Lakh for the same period in FY 2015-16.

Electronic Verification Code (EVC) can be generated by pre-validating your Bank Account on the e-Filing portal. Punjab National Bank and United Bank of India have launched this facility which will facilitate the account holders, who may not have a NetBanking account, to e-verify their return. Other banks are expected to launch this facility.
